Medusa's Rag
Lyrics-Sites Music-Stanley*
Behold my beauty, and turn to stone
I’ll make you weep, and I’ll make you moan
Snakes in my hair could tear you apart
But most beware the one in my heart
You dared to gaze on my real face
And now you’ll never ever leave this place
Only reflection will help you see
Where to find the weakness in me
So shine your shield and mount your steed
Let’s see if you can make me bleed
Steel your soul and fly to me
We’ll both find immortality
Leave my unmolested body dead
And take my unfair maiden head
All I need is to face the sun,
O, now can I have redemption?
*Alec has been monkeying with this melodic piece of music for many years, since he began his guitar career on the classical acoustic instrument. And though Rebecca heard him teach the piece to several musical companions, it took her till this year to discover the lyrics that fit with it. The lyrics themselves were written in 2010. When the Venden/Gilmore chemistry happened Fall 2011, and Patchwork Monkey had a flurry of creative juice, this version of the song was born fully formed, like Athena, as if from the brow of Zeus. Medusa would've liked that.
